Therapy is a process by which an individual can learn to cope with uncomfortable emotions, make specific behavior changes and increase self-understanding. Therapy is built on a relationship with your psychologist. This relationship helps to foster change. As a professional, I will use my best knowledge and skills to help you. The goals of therapy include symptom relief, positive coping, behavior change, self-understanding and enhancement of rewarding interpersonal relationships.
Individuals often wonder how long treatment will take. This usually depends on the complexity of the issues, the amount of time one is able to devote to treatment and the motivation for change. I believe in brief therapy and have found that many individuals can make significant changes in 8-12 sessions. For those who are struggling with longer standing more complex issues, I am available to work with individuals on a longer term basis.
When you arrive at the Winchester Plaza Garden Office you will find the M building toward the back of the parking lot. My office is M-258. The office door will be labeled Health Psychology Associates, as I share an office with another therapist. Please walk in and make yourself comfortable in the waiting room and I will come to greet you at your appointment time. Please download the service agreement form and the client information form and bring these with you to your first appointment.
We will review your concerns, discuss treatment options and make goals for treatment. If other services are better suited to your needs I will make treatment recommendations at that time.
