I completed my PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University of North Texas with a concentration in Marriage and Family. I have a strong generalist background completing a pre-doctoral and post-doctoral internship in college counseling centers. From there I discovered that I enjoyed working with individuals struggling with eating disorders and body image concerns. After completing my post-doc I accepted a position working at an eating disorder treatment center in Indianapolis, IN. Today I continue to work with eating disorders both in my private practice and as part of the treatment team of Cielo House Eating Disorder Recovery Center in Belmont, CA.
I work from an integrative approach drawing form interpersonal and cognitive-behavioral therapy theories. In interpersonal therapy the focus of treatment is on conflict within interpersonal relationships. Maladaptive communication and behavior patterns are identified and rewritten. In cognitive behavioral therapy we focus on thoughts and feelings and how they impact our behavior. I help individuals achieve their goals through talk therapy, stress reduction techniques and the use of hypnosis.
